Are Ronin helmets only for the Japanese army?
The Star Trek inspired Ronin helmet has found its way into the hearts of many troops all over the world. Produced by the Japan-based company, DevTac, the multi-functional ballistic helmet is highly sort after for its remarkable features.
The Japanese company, which began in 2011, has been able to develop this unique yet terrifying ballistic helmet which also performs a facial shield protection function. Since its production, this ballistic helmet has continued to gain massive traction at some of the world’s largest armory expositions as well as military equipment trade shows.
At first glance, one might be tempted to think of it as one of the latest sci-fi movie head gear collection. However, this helmet is as real as it gets. Although the helmet is produced by a Japanese company, its use is not restricted to the Japanese army. In fact, the company is currently working on an upgraded product called the RONIN II.
With the help of the Trust International Group, the company looks to create a unique and improved modular ballistic helmet that would be used by special ops as well as special tactical units all around the world. The helmet has an international market target as it is said to provide more improved features in terms of protection level, flexibility and weight.
The current Ronin Helmet has a National Institute of Justice rating of Level IIIA. Who knows? Maybe DevTac would be looking at creating a Level IV ballistic rated helmet that also provides protection for the head, face, and eyes as well.
Currently, the Ronin Level IIIA ballistic helmet is used by different troops outside Japan. The helmet quickly became a fast-seller for its remarkable protection coverage (covering about 80% protection of the head) at just about 2.2 kg to 2.7 kg. No doubt, more troops will imbibe its use as time goes on.
